Welcome to our school website! St. Brendan's National School is situated in the village of Muckalee which is eight miles from Kilkenny city. The school was established on this site in the year 1935 and was refurbished in 1996 and again in 2013. There are now seven classrooms, a sports hall, a reading room, a resource room and a staffroom. The infants are facilitated in the first refurbished rooms and there are separate toilets and also separate cloakrooms for the boys and girls. The school is well equipped with educational aids and also has a well-stocked library. The IT facilities in the school are comprehensive and are availed of by all students. There are ten teachers on the staff, seven mainstream teachers and learning support/resource teachers and our Principal Kevin Cummins.  School begins at 9.20am and ends at 3.00pm (2.00pm for the infant classes). The school is under the management of a board of management, which is elected in accordance with the DES Rules of Procedure. The current chairperson is Fr. Larry Wallace, P.P. There is also an active and thriving Parents Council in the school. The Board actively supports and promotes the Parents Council.
