Welcome to our school website! St. Brendan's National School is situated in the village of Muckalee (Muc an Laí) which is eight miles from Kilkenny city. The school was established on this site in the year 1935 and was refurbished in 1996.

There are now five classrooms, a sports hall, a reading room and a staffroom. The infants are facilitated in a separate prefabricated building and there are separate toilets and also separate cloakrooms for the boys and girls.

The school is well equipped with educational aids and also has a well-stocked library. The IT facilities in the school are comprehensive and are availed of by all students.

There are seven teachers on the staff, six mainstream teachers and one learning support/resource teacher. School begins at 9.20am and ends at 3.00pm (2.00pm for the infant classes).

The school is under the management of a board of management, which is elected in accordance with the DES Rules of Procedure. The current chairperson is Fr. Larry Wallace, P.P. There is also an active and thriving Parents Council in the school. The Board actively supports and promotes the Parents Council.
